NetSuite AI Features
in 2026: What
Actually Shipped
Two releases this year added real finance capability. Knowing which features are enabled in your account matters more than the announcement list.
NetSuite 2026.2, announced on 15 July 2026, introduced AI transaction matching that recommends a single likely bank match with visible reasoning, reconciliation assignment assistance, flux analysis assistance, a native payment run workflow, NetSuite Next and Ask Oracle. The 2026.1 release added AI close management and the Redwood interface toggle.
- 2026.2 was announced on 15 July 2026 and includes AI transaction matching with visible reasoning.
- Features arrive default on, opt in, or as early adopter previews that Oracle marks as subject to change.
- 2026.1 added AI close management and the Redwood interface toggle earlier in the year.
- Native features assist at the point of decision, so investigation and entries stay with your team.
NetSuite shipped more finance AI in one year than in the previous several combined. The 2026.1 release in March added AI close management and the Redwood interface toggle, and 2026.2, announced on 15 July 2026, followed with AI transaction matching, reconciliation assignment assistance, flux analysis assistance, a native payment run workflow, NetSuite Next, Ask Oracle and AI Canvas.
The practical question for a controller is narrower than the announcement list. Which of these are enabled in your account right now, which are previews that could change, and what work remains after the enabled ones have run. The sections below answer those in order.
What the 2026 releases changed for a NetSuite finance team
Five features, what each one does, and the work that follows it.
Fewer tools in the middle
A lot of finance stacks carry connector and export tools whose only job is moving data between systems. The 2026 releases start to make some of that middleware unnecessary.
I think some of that starts going away as we have systems that can talk to each other better, or we have an AI layer that's translating between tools.
Caitlin Haberberger, on the AgentCFO podcast
Audit which of your integration tools exist only to translate between systems. Those are the first candidates to retire as the platform catches up.
AI transaction matching and its visible reasoning
Bank reconciliation on any ERP starts with matching, and rules based matching clears the easy population while leaving the interesting items in a queue with no explanation attached.
How it runs
NetSuite's AI transaction matching recommends a single likely match for a bank line and shows the reasoning behind the recommendation, which is a meaningful improvement over an unexplained suggestion because the reviewer can assess it quickly. It stops at the recommendation, so accepting, rejecting or investigating remains a human step.
Reconciliation assignment and flux assistance
Two of the most repetitive close tasks are deciding who owns each reconciliation and identifying which accounts moved enough to need commentary.
How it runs
Assignment assistance suggests ownership and flux analysis assistance highlights movement, both removing coordination overhead. What neither does is trace a movement to the transactions responsible or write the explanation, which is where the elapsed time in variance work actually sits.

The native payment run workflow
Payment runs on NetSuite frequently lived in a mix of saved searches, spreadsheets and manual selection, which made discount capture and blocked item handling inconsistent.
How it runs
The native payment run workflow brings that into the platform. What it does not do is decide which invoices should have been released in the first place, which depends on matching, variance research and duplicate checking upstream of payment.
NetSuite Next, Ask Oracle and conversational access
Getting an answer out of an ERP has traditionally meant knowing where to look, which limits self service to the people who already know the system well.
How it runs
Conversational access lowers that barrier for questions about data already in the system. It is a retrieval improvement rather than a preparation one, so it helps with finding and understanding rather than with producing the entries that fill a close calendar.

Default on, opt in and preview
Features arrive in three states, and planning against one that is a preview is how a close calendar gets built on something that changes.
How it runs
Check your own account rather than the release notes, separating what is default on from what is opt in and what is an early adopter preview subject to change. Anything you depend on should be generally available and enabled, with a retest after each release for anything built on top.

The release notes tell you what exists. Your account tells you what is enabled, and only one of those affects next month's close.

Four steps that establish your real starting position.
Audit your account
List what is enabled, separating default on features from opt in and from previews marked subject to change.
Enable what fits
Turn on the features that match your processes and run one full close with them.
Measure the residual
Count what the native features handed back, by task type, and time it.
Scope to the gap
Add capability for preparation and for reconciliation work the native features only recommend.
NetSuite AI features: common questions
What AI did NetSuite add in 2026?
Are NetSuite AI features enabled automatically?
Does NetSuite AI complete the bank reconciliation?
What still needs a third party tool on NetSuite?
Finish what the native features start.
ChatFin reads the same NetSuite data through supported interfaces and completes the work: reconciliations built rather than recommended, unmatched items investigated and explained, accruals and entries drafted, and variance commentary written with the transactions cited.
Everything routes to a named approver with the trail attached, and the connection survives the twice yearly release cycle. Bring one close with the native features enabled and we will show you the residual.

Where this sits
Bring your post feature residual.
Enable everything native, run one close, and bring what came back. That population is the entire conversation.
